NIA effect

In a recent development in Jammu and Kashmir Stone pelting incident have gradually decreased to a significantly low level.  NIA`s  (National Investigation Agency) crackdown on terror funding and arrest of the separatists for allegedly funding the stone pelters. Reasons that have been cited for the development. Still on average 60 incidents of stone pelting are reported monthly.These incidents are generally reported near the site of the ongoing encounter by the security forces.This is done to deviate their attention and provide an opportunity for militants to flee.

 

Generally, these activities are coordinated by the local handles of militants and supported by brainwashed local citizens.They are paid through terror funding.In the year 2016 on an average 400 incident of stone pelting did happen from July 2016 to October 2016.

Demonetization effect

The frequency of incidents fell considerably in November and December 2016. Due demonetization of higher currency denomination of 500 and 1000 rupee notes by the government.This choked the supply of funding for the terrorists. Cases of Bank Robbery were reported in the valley by terrorists.It indicates the level of damage demonetization did to terror funding and the separatist movement in J&K.In order to continue their activities terrorist turned to bank robberies for the supply of funds.
